As I walked to my car this morning I looked up to the most amazing red sky , it took my breath and I had to take a picture ( I wanted to post the picture I took but cant figure out how to do it, and the picture doesn't actually do the reality much justice, so you'll just have to trust me on this one ) . Anyway, I just love dramatic sky's, they some how make me think about how vast our universe is and how significant I am in comparison. So this morning on my way to work feeling all insignificant to the world, I suddenly thought .... if I am so insignificant this little virus I carry in my body is not even on the radar and in the grand scheme of things well..........

Just some food for though :-)

I am sat here with a great big grin on my face now.

@hope75 That was a nice read thank you for posting. I have come to terms with my oral hsv 2 & now I am attempting to wait patiently for my test results for HIV. I should be getting them tomorrow or Monday. My entire family and close friends keep telling me to relax and that I don't have it but after my first H outbreak 3 weeks ago I am petrified. My doctor told me yesterday that this is standard proceedure when something like this happens but it's the waiting period that is killing me. I finally stopped googling and reading today as I am literally filling my head full of petrifying information. I am so thankful for this website and the people that share their stories on here. It's been difficult to find someone to relate to me as I haven't had anyone else that has Oral HSV 2 respond but having WCSDancer2010 respond to me has made me feel at least I am not alone.

Hopefulvictoria. Firstly welcome to this site, and I am glad you liked my post ( wish I could post the picture ). Secondly You are not alone. We have all being there and I remember all too well waiting to ring up for my HIV results. I sent my self silly with worry, and convinced my self that I was positive. However, I was negative. Its easy for me to say now, the best thing you can do is try not to worry as this may lead to another Hsv breakout from the stress. Breath and treat yourself to something you like doing that may take your mind off things. Going on a run helps me or even better than that going to buy a new pair of shoes ....

Message me any time, or reach out on here. We are like a big spiritual family :-) and I am beginning to realise that actually having H is the kick in the bum that I needed to look deep inside, make peace with my self and help me move forward to a better place in my life. And in that new life I will only allow people who are worthy of me get close to me. Try keep your chin up chicker.... It will get easier, I promise you that. I'm not saying you'll never have an off day , I still have them (but hell I had them before H..) its part of the peaks and valleys of life , only now I have a support system from some fabulous people on here. If I hadn't of got herpes I would never have met these people and for that reason I already think that having herpes has actually being a bit of a blessing. I feel like I connect with people and fit somewhere at long last, yipeeee xx

Wow, reading this is giving me goosebumps, hope. I'm so happy hearing all of this. You are certainly part of our H Opp family. Big hugs and we missed you for those few days. ;) And yes, this is the door that gets open when we take these opportunities to go inside and see the beauty that we've been overlooking ... What we recognize as beautiful in the sky and anywhere outside of us is also us recognizing the beauty reflected in us, too. It's all connected, my friend.

@hopefulvictoria it is standard procedure. When my doctor found out I had herpes...he made me test for HIV too. He made me test for it every couple of months...talk about nerve wrecking! I was as scared as u bc I was so scared to have HIV. Herpes seems minor now that I think about it O_o

Thanks Adrial. Well, today I though sod it .... I'm half way on this journey I may as well try to get further on my destination ( what ever or where ever that may be) . So home study booked...... what's that saying go like.. enjoy the journey not the destination ? oh that's got me started, I may have to visit the who made a mess now :-D

hope75Community Member

Sod it.. I had to post this one on here

Is today going to be the day that you step out of your comfort zone, the day that you commit yourself to stretching to new heights, and new places that you never even imagined you would see? Nobody ever said that the road to your destiny would be a comfortable one. Many who are successful will argue the point that though a victory is great, it is the journey along the way to their victories that really is what means the most to them.:-D

@simplyme24 Thank You SO much for your response. I REALLY appreciate it! It's amazing the tricks your mind will play on you, especially after reading information on the internet. The internet is a blessing and a curse. A blessing for this reason mainly. I'm not going to lie to you part of the reason I am stressing is because the person I gave oral sex to has a questionable track record. To be honest I am also extremely ignorant because I didn't even know that you can get HIV from oral sex! I thought it was strictly passed through blood on blood contact. Needless to say I won't be able to fully relax until I get my negative results ;). After having this first outbreak, I had to go on vacation to a rather warm and humid destination. While I was away I experienced night sweats which my mom did also (I'm sure due to weather) Swollen glands in my neck, I'm assuming because I had my outbreak in my throat and an odd neck rash but I am almost certain is due to the sweating, heat and humidity. HOWEVER Google "HIV" and all of those symptoms come up! Talk about alarming! I didn't sleep well last night at all, I even had to get into bed with my mom at 5am this morning and she was telling me to count in twos backwards from 200 because I was tossing and turning so much.

I'm not going to lie it is 2pm where I live and my mom and I have already had a couple glasses of wine. It has calmed my nerves a bit & I did go for a walk this afternoon with a very close friend of mine and explained to him what is going on. He was naturally very supportive. Oral HSV 2 is rather alarming because I did read that it mainly shows up in people with uncompromising immune systems, but having you @simplyme24 tell me that your doctor checked you regularly for HIV after your outbreak has made me feel at ease, Thank YOU! My Best Friend was the one who told me to join this website and I shall thank her FOREVER! Between you & @adrial, @WCSDancer2010 & @Hope75 I have been able to come to terms with my situation and understand that I am indeed not alone. Plus @adrial was able to answer some questions for me about Oral HSV 2 as it seems not many ppl have it, Go figures... Me to be in the minority! lol HEY! at least I'm laughing! Please pray for me everyone that my test result for HIV are negative! I should hopefully know tomorrow or Monday for sure! I love you all and much appreciate all of your support! I just want a negative result so I can get back in the gym and move on with my life! Thank you for responding everyone and listening! I'm so happy we are all here to support each other in our own ways, no matter age, race or sex! Anyone can message me! Anytime about anything! I am forever grateful! <3

@HopefulVictoria

With those symptoms and your location, I personally think you are going through Menopause...LOL

Seriously though, I bet I can find at least 10 other "diseases" that have the same symptoms. Try to just enjoy your time with your mom and friend... worrying about it won't change anything until you get the results... ;)

@WCSDance2010 - Menopause at 27!!!! LMAO! I hear what you are saying though! Everyone in my family thinks I'm NUTS lol and believe me I have had a flashlight in my mouth more than any lollipop as a kid! If I had it in my genitals I'm sure I'd have my pants down every 5 minutes! lol - Your right! I am trying to relax and praying for a good nights sleep tonight! I just told my mum about you and showed her your photo and she says that you are beautiful! Thank you again for all of your responses @WCSDance2010 - I really appreciate your support! <3

Hi Everyone! My doctor just called me and my test results for HIV & Hep C were both negative! I can't stop crying with tears of joy!!! I am SOOOOOO happy right now! It's amazing how minor the H seems when you are being tested for more serious diseases! This has been a VERY VERY VERY valuable lesson to me and I thank all of you wonderful people for listening to me and supporting me! I'm doing the happy dance with my glass of red wine! Love to all of you beautiful people!!!!! X.x.x

simplyme24Community Member

Its funny just how minor herpes is when u have a scare for something muuuuch worse. CONGRATULATIONS to you! Googling symptoms can b the worse sometimes lol...it'll say you are dying when really you just have a cold lol. I am so happy that you do not have to worry anymore and perhaps this happened to you for a reason so you can live with H in a much more positive way :) Doctors test for other things when you have herpes bc your body can be much more exposed to them. Again....Yay for good news! Have a glass of wine for me !!! :)

HopefulVictoriaCommunity Member

@simplyme24 I definitely just had a glass of wine for you! lol and some Thai Food! lol It truly is amazing... 4 weeks ago when I was diagnosed with Oral HSV 2 I literally thought my life was over! and THEN my doctor tells me he's testing me for HIV and Hep C and makes Oral HSV 2 sound like a walk in the park. I am a very religious person (Catholic to be exact). I have been praying and I almost feel as if God scared me with the HIV test to make me realize how minor what I have really is and not to mention the chances of it showing up in my throat again are very minor as it doesn't like to live there! :D This was a reality check for me! That I need to value myself more and de-jerk my life. I truly feel blessed and the most valuable lesson of all.... Listen to your doctor and stay off of Google! Thank you again for your message today telling me it was standard procedure, You did make me feel at ease and my Doctor calling was the icing on the cake! You are a beautiful female and I commend you for posting your photo as I am just not there yet. I wish you the best for your life and please know that you have helped me and I will never forget it. <3 If you ever need to chat, I am here for you too! :)

Your words are extremely extremely kind....thanks. much appreciated :) I never thought of myself as helping anyone and thats all I really want to do so that makes me extremely happy to be able to do so. Posting my picture is def part of the process I guess of this is me. Take me as I am Kinda deal and the fact that this is such a supportive community helps. And you will probably be there before you know it. I mean...look at the progress you have made in the past few days :) I wish you the best as well in your journey and will be here for your support whenever you shall need it :)

@simplyme24 @WCSDancer2010 @Adrial

Good Morning! I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind... As I am sitting here drinking my morning coffee I have been doing lots of reading about what triggers H outbreaks. Again... I am not sure how different my situation is considering I only have Oral HSV 2 but hey I still have the virus so I want to ask ;) Coffee? I love my coffee and usually drink at least 2 cups a day. Chocolate? I can really do with out but sometimes I do indulge. Sun? I tend to vacation in hot destinations often and wonder if sun really does cause an OB? Also I bought some L Lysine pills and I have been taking two a day. A friend recommended them to me, What's you opinion on them?

I'd appreciate any feed back!

Thank You!!

PeachyogurtisawesomeCommunity Member

I don't know much about oral hsv 2 bu i know with my genital hsv 1 i still drink likee a pot of coffee a day lol. so far I've only had 3 breakouts down there since being exposed to it in march. i hear its subjective though and everyone has different triggers. congrats on ur hiv negative status. i know u are glad.

WCSDancer2010Community Member

I know there was a convo revently about foods and other triggers - I'll see if I can find it later (trying to get out shopping with my daughter) but short version:

Chocolate, nuts, stress, are often mentioned. I think I read someone say removing coffee helped them. Likely sugar may affect some.

Supposedly there is a balance between Argenine and Lysine that can cause or reduce outbreaks. Unfortunately not a lot of great studies on it but anecdotal evidence seems to support the theory... this is a decent article to explain it:

http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/health-fitness/medical-conditions/can-certain-foods-cause-or-prevent-herpes-outbreaks

In the end, how YOU react to any/all these will be different from everyone else. Probably has to do with interactions with your stress levels and hormones. :p

@HopefulVictoria. As far as I've read it isn't so much that any food can directly cause an outbreak, although if you are allergic to something that can stress your immune system, which can perceive that allergen the same way it perceives a virus and go on a rampage leaving you exposed to HSV. Holistically speaking, Even foods that might irritate you, like dairy, which most of us put up with because pizza without cheese is tough to swallow, can irritate the immune system. But think of it more like adding crappy motor oil to your car...it will still run...but less effectively. the good news is, you can put good oil in at any time! (I hope this is actually true as my knowledge of car mechanics is nill)

That being said, foods like chocolate that make you happy should in theory bring down your stress levels and frankly stress is the biggest thing to worry about. An odd turn of phrase I know. I find that thinking about what I should put into my body to promote overall health and we'll being goes a lot farther than worrying about what I should keep out. Caffeine does increase stress, why we sometimes sweat from it...but then again not having coffee STRESSES ME OUT. So it's all about balance.

I'm doing some research on herpes and nutrition on my 'getting hot with herpes' adventure. I'll post what I find!

Sending all you magical people hugs with a Capitol H!

OTBS - Like I said, there does seem to be an issue of the Argenine/Lysine balance.

I can attest to the fact that certain foods can trigger an OB - (and, it may come or go ..probably depending on how stressed you are or perhaps hormonal things that my be stressing your system). I had a few years where Trail Mix (with nuts and M&M's) seemed to be the culprit - I would take it when I was traveling (which is stressful) and I'd OB within 2-3 days of opening the bag (ie, I might get away with a day of it but not several). I made the connection the 3rd time it happened because it happened at home too when I bought a bag for snacks. Stopped eating it and the OB's stopped or would be pretty minor. (Thankfully - sitting on a plane on the way home with a whopping Herpes sore isn't fun)

Today, I seem to be able to eat them again but I'm totally through Menopause AND I'm much more at peace (including when traveling).
