Can you truly live a kickass life with herpes? Well, I might be a bit biased, but the obvious answer here is f*ck yes. And if you read the title of this post as anything but a rhetorical question, then there are some self-limiting beliefs around herpes to clear up.
And the sad part is, this seems to be the norm rather than the exception, so you’re certainly not alone. But instead of being all huddled together being ashamed about herpes, I’d like us to be standing up together using it as a powerful catalyst for growth, truth and authenticity.
We just don't need to be bothered by the negative judgments that society has about this little skin condition called herpes. If we know ourselves and we know ourselves to be true, good people, then the outside judgments affect us less and less.
Now keep in mind that not being bothered doesn’t mean that we shouldn't disclose and just forget that we have it. Quite the opposite, actually. We embrace having herpes as a responsibility to care about keeping our partners safe and herpes-free. Instead of going into denial, we go into a full embrace of our humanity.
